Joseph Elefante, CAIA – President San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
Joseph is the President of the San Francisco Bond Club, and has been a member since 2011. He has 13 years of investment experience and is a Senior Divisional Director for the Bank/Trust and Platform team at Salient Partners, a multi-boutique asset management firm.
Joseph earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Double Major in Finance and Economics, and a Master of Science in Management with a Concentration in Finance (MMF) from the Eller College of Management at The University of Arizona. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation, and is a member of the CAIA Association.
In addition, he is an active member of The Guardsmen, an organization focused on improving the lives of at-risk youth in the Bay Area.
Daniel Joensen - Vice President San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
Daniel Joensen joined the San Francisco Bond Club in 2009. He is a Board Member and Vice President of the Club. Mr. Joensen is the Portfolio Manager for Oresund AlphaLife Partners, a venture-style hedge fund focusing on small-cap public life science and biotech investments.
Sam Kirkland, CFA - Treasurer San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
Sam Kirkland is a Research Director and Senior Vice President within Global Manager Research (GMR), a division of Wells Fargo Investment Institute. The GMR team selects and oversees the third-party money managers used throughout Wells Fargo’s Brokerage, Wealth Management, Abbott Downing, and Institutional Retirement businesses (WBR).
Kyle McKenzie – Secretary and Board Member San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
A South African and University of Oregon Grad, I began work at Grant Thornton in their Valuations and Management Consulting Group. After a few years, I took an opportunity with United States Commodity Funds where I was an Associate Portfolio Manager for their Commodity Futures ETF's. Since then I have worked for Forward Funds, a managed liquid alternative shop, and, now, currently cover the west coast for Artisan Partners. I have been a member of the San Francisco Bond Club for 5 years and look forward to great times ahead.
Ronald Lynch - San Francisco Bond Club Historian
Ron is a partner of Sanctuary Wealth Services, responsible for business development and advisor recruitment. Ron has 25 years of financial services and Wall Street experience. Prior to joining Sanctuary, Ron worked at Bear Stearns, Chase Manhattan Bank, and Smith Barney. At Bear Stearns, Ron successfully launched the firm’s sales initiatives in the Pacific Northwest. At Chase, he helped build out the sales function of bank’s mutual fund family and was responsible for leading the bank’s sales initiatives on the West Coast. Ron started his career on the capital markets desk at Smith Barney. He served on the Board of Trustees at Hartwick College, where he graduated. Ron also is a past president of the San Francisco Bond Club and currently resides on the board of Peninsula Family Service. Ron is also the first recipient of the Jeff Filter Award in 2015.
Scott J. Kockos - Past President San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
As a member and officer of this distinguished club for a number of years, I would like to thank all of our past presidents board members of the San Francisco Bond Club. They served the membership with their own signature styles, while preserving the integrity of San Francisco Bond Club. A club rich with tradition, heritage and historical significance. While I have over 30 years of my own experience in the San Francisco financial industry and the last 25 years with J.P. Morgan, I recognize the wealth of knowledge and depth of our membership is awe inspiring and very special.
Keith Parker, CFA- Board Member San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
Keith Parker is a Vice President/Senior Research Analyst within Global Manager Research (GMR), a division of Wells Fargo Investment Institute. In his role, Keith focuses his research on fixed income asset class and specializes in municipal bond strategies. The GMR team selects and oversees the third-party money managers used throughout Wells Fargo’s Brokerage, Wealth Management, Abbott Downing, and Institutional Retirement businesses (WBR). Keith is a CFA® charterholder, member of the CFA Society of San Francisco, and member of the San Francisco Bond Club since 2014.
Brian Borst - Board Member San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
Brian Borst is the Managing Director - Branch Manager for the San Francisco branch at Wells Fargo Advisors LLC. Brian has assumed various roles over the span of his career, including internal auditing and market administration.
Originally from Iowa, Brian earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington and served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps. Brian has worked extensively with various charities in Orange County, including Susan G. Komen, American Heart Association, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, New Hope Grief Support and JDRF.
Alan Metheny - Board Member San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
A Piedmont High School graduate from 1979 where he excelled in football, rugby, baseball and having fun. A UC Berkeley graduate in 1983, majoring in History. A member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity, Skull & Keys Honor Society, Cal Rugby Team. Big C Society. Played on the Old Blues Rugby team after college and still plays softball, baseball, water polo and golf.
He lives in Orinda with wife Kathleen and has three kids – Ellie, a graduate of UCLA, Matt, a junior at Cal, and Joe who will be attending the University of Miami. Alan is currently active with Miramonte High School Boosters, San Francisco Grid Club, Big C Society, Santa Maria Church and the Alameda Boys & Girls Club. For many years he coached his sons sports teams and was commissioner for OBA Baseball, OYA and CYO Basketball, MOL Football and OYA Soccer. He never got the nod to coach daughter’s ballet team.

Steve Mickle, CAIA - Board Member San Francisco Bond Club 2016-2017
Prior to joining WallachBeth in spring of 2013, Steve covered insurance companies for Barclays Global Investors which was acquired by BlackRock in 2009. There he sold equity and fixed income iShares Exchange Traded Funds and was instrumental in obtaining National Association of Insurance Commissioners designations for more than a dozen iShares fixed income ETFs. Prior to BGI, Steve covered hedge funds and mutual funds for Merriman Capital, a boutique investment bank and broker dealer in San Francisco. Steve earned his BA in mathematics from Hamilton College in upstate New York and holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. Outside business, Steve’s interests include skiing, golf and smoking meats.
